This club is an international service organization sponsored by Kiwanis Clubs. Aims of the Club are to serve the school and community and to assist the club members in becoming better citizens. During the year, the club had a rose sale, sold pop and candy at special events, gave two Christmas baskets to needy families, helped at the blood banks, and assisted the Kiwanians at Children’s Day . Dave Bump and A1 Hayward attended the district conference at Battle Creek. Y Center and the after game dances were jointly sponsored by Hi Y and Tri Hi Y. Pop sales at both functions and the admission charged at the dances were the sources of the club’s income. From this money, the club gave donations to the March of Dimes and the Y.M.C.A. Dyer The Girls Athletic Association is organized for any girls in grades nine through twelve who are interested in sports. Members met this year on Tuesday nights and played volleyball, basketball, football, and other sports. Tournaments with girls from other towns provided competition. Homecoming and Parents’ Night at the football game were entirely under their supervision. The group also gave Thanksgiving baskets to needy families, decorated the school halls at Christmas time, polished trophies and cleaned the cases. FUTURE TEACHERS CLUB Experience and knowledge gained by working in this club furthers the ability of the members who plan to be teachers. Members gain experience by working with children, discussing cases with teachers, and by working in the library. Members who have accumulated two hundred service hours by the time they graduate are presented with a diploma which tells of their accomplishments. Baby sitting, teaching Sunday school, working in the library, and serving at teas without pay can be counted as service hours. Two club projects were serving tea to the consultants of College Career Night and to teachers at the end of semesters. FUTURE NURSES CLUB The Future Nurses Club is an organization for those interested in nursing as a profession. Main purposes of the club are to give the members some idea of the demands, standards and opportunities of the profession. Projects were giving fruit to convalescent homes at Thanksgiving and at Christmas, and spending time helping and observing mentally retarded children.
