This year the Haslett High School Board of Education decided to discontinue the system of choosing a Valedictorian and Salutatorian and instigated in its place the Top Ten. The Top Ten were chosen on the basis of academic skill and were honored at an Honors Banquet for all students in the school with a 3. 5 or better academic record. They were presented with medals and were further distinguished by wearing a gold-colored, braided rope on their graduation gowns.
