The 1959-1960 Haslett debate team had an interesting season. Competition with such schools as Eastern, Sexton, St. Mary, etc. was rough; nevertheless, our team won two of the four debates. Another set of debates had to be called off because one of the team members became Hospital Bound. Lee Sumpter and Jeff Rogers were the two returning members of last year ' s team. Leila Renner, a freshman with a good future in debate, and Jim Driscoll, a junior, were the newcomers on the team. Lee and Leila were negative colleagues: Jim and Jeff, affirm¬ ative. Mrs. Smith is the debate coach. The debate question was: Resolved that the United States government should sub¬ stantially increase its control of labor unions.
