JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL THE VARSITY Haslett’s Varsity Basketball team added another trophy to the trophy case by winning the Ingham County League title. Haslett completed the first round of league play without sus¬ taining a loss. Later in the second round Haslett lost to Dansville and Leslie. During both of these defeats the varsity wasn ' t playing the brand of ball it had in the first round of competition. Each time Haslett ventured out of the league it was beaten. The first game of the season was lost to Mason, a Capitol Circuit team. Later the varsity lost to Holt also in the Capitol B Circuit. This game was very close with Haslett staying with Holt for three quarters. Holt pulled away in the fourth and won the game. Both Mason and Holt finished high in their circuit. After winning the County title Haslett drew St. Mary ' s in the districts. The game was lost as Haslett couldn’t find the range. Haslett placed two of its team on the all-league selection: Larry Hamilton and Warren Kent. Tom Hicks was named as an honorable mention.

STATE “C” CHAMPS «Pf | k €|,r c, I ' «f? 3 A v ' m m . % Wt i ■ « ■ KgT £ Ml • 7T ‘‘y i J ■ a 4 J1 I j ; WT j 9 Ik j j§ ■ Mr. Haslett High School ' s track team had the finest season of its history in the spring of 1960. At the end of a near perfect season Haslett was crowned State C Track Champs. Winning 4 major meets, The Central Michigan Relays, The State Regionals, The Ingham County Meet, and finally the State Finals, Haslett found that it had collected 7 fine trophies. The only defeat came at the hands of East Lansing, a class A school. In addition to the four major wins, the Viking thin clads won numerous dual meets held earlier in the season. Haslett ' s main power came from its good depth and keen compe¬ tition. The boys on the team were truly an asset to the school. They had to participate in bad weather on many occasions and often had to come from behind to obtain their victories. The team has truly set a mark for teams of the future. The following seniors will be lost through graduation: Jim Chambers, Jack Chambers, W. Kent, J. Sherman, T. Hicks, J. Cain, R. Raynor, L. Morr, D. Hynes. The future of next year ' s team looks promising as many fine juniors, sophomores, and freshmen will be moving up.
