z To the Class of I960: Congratulations on achieving graduate status from Haslett High School. As you reflect back on your many school experiences, it is my sincere hope that you have performed your tasks to the best of your ability and that these experiences will serve you well as you pursue your choice of voca¬ tion or educational endeavor. The world looks for young people to take a place in the scheme of things. In this scientific age you are expected to lead intelligently or to follow intelligently. Each of us has a place to fill. How well we fill it is dependent on how well we have performed our duties. Education never stops. You will be confronted with learning opportuni¬ ties all your life. How well you learn in the future is surely dependent on how well you have applied yourself in the past. Initiative and ambition are two necessary ingredients for success. I believe that each of you possesses these two qualities. I would like to hear from you often. Let me know about the progress you are making. Be sure to visit us whenever possible. Sincerely, F. J. To the Class of I960; The Class of 1960 is the largest class ever to be graduated from Haslett High School. This is of importance to each of you because it signifies growth in the community, in the State, and in the Nation. Competition will be keener for jobs, for education, and for other de¬ sirable things in life. Through the National Defense Education Act, some of you can get as¬ sistance to continue your education. Others of you have, or will be able to get, scholarships to help you. Each of you now, in you own way, must seek for yourself, the things you deem to be good and desirable. Your high school education is the first achievement of any consequence along your road of success. It is my hope that you will always remember Haslett High School as the place where you learned to study, learned to concentrate, learned the value of knowledge, and learned respect for yourself and for others. Come and visit whenever you can; be loyal alumni or alumnae of Has¬ lett High. Congratulations, H. M. Murphy Superintendent
