Marcine, who was with us before, came back her Senior year, And now she ' s lost from sight again, but soon may reappear. Hank Rowland and Bob Ridenour run service stations now, While Kay and Sandy, best of friends, each took the sacred vow. Our Marilyn, who once made such a chore of counting change Of all the things, is now employed in a large stock exchange Dave Chadwell ' s trying still to break the world ' s shot put mark. For Delmas Reed and Bonnie Brown the future ' s looking dark. Vicki, aft er thinking twice, still goes to Michigan State, But Doug is still around and so what difference does it make? Tom Barron and Squeak Baker joined and found an oil well. What came of Schram, the Lord just knows, our crystal ball won ' t tell. Rog Saylor ' s still a married man, and pap ' s yet the same. And Mariann Good is Good no more, she ' s married and changed he r name. Chuck Hawkins, once a farmer’s son, owns his own farm today. And Zola ' s fine, enjoying life, just sleeping night and day. Pat Thompson lives to face the world with each succeeding dawn. And Glenda and Dorothea are no longer so withdrawn. Miss Williams and Miss Wess were once as students lovely girls, And more and more their charms come forth as each new day unfurls. Ray Smith has made a million bucks - his playboy life is fun. And as for me, I ' m awfully glad this poem is almost done. But too I feel great sympathy for his whom they may choose To write this poem for next year’s class, with eighty names to use. - Jan D. Hodge I would like to thank all those through whose efforts this 1959 Dixit was made possible. The staff spent many long hours of work in their efforts to make this the best yearbook to come from Haslett School. We think we have reached this goal, and hope you agree with us. I would also like to thank the advertisers, whose financial support was needed to make our dream yearbook a reality. - The Editor

CLASS POEM AND PROPHECY For us, the class of fifty-nine, the time is drawing nigh To leave our friends and classmates soon, to Haslett say good-bye. For all of us our training has supplied an impetus. But what will time and fortune bring? What will become of us? Let ' s gaze into a crystal ball or, since we haven ' t one, Just try to guess what lies in store in time that’s just beyond. The time has come, as some will say, to speak of l ovely things. It won ' t be long until there shine the prize engagement rings. Who are these lucky couples that share dreams of what’s to be? P ' raps Carole and Bob, Dianne and Chuck, or Mike and Bonnie D. Some lucky ladies such as Jean and Dorothy and Marlene Already wed the ones they love, and live a life serene. But there are other things in life than marriage and romance, And everyone has reached some goal through skill or circumstance. Two members from our class are now successful engineers. Frank Hart and then Bill Porterfield have followed these careers. Tom Steinbach spreads the word of God, relieving men from strife. And Cherie and Pat Davis lead a quiet type of life. Dick Balzer traded his convert and drives a limousine. Others, like Professor Robert Shackelton Wintermute, merely exist to take the rhythm out of poetry. Jean Miler won the D.A.R. while still a high school lass, And now she serves society as she once served our class. Ann Smith, sincere and quiet, has found her great happiness. Our all-star team of Darryl and Kris has also met success. Both Parker and Rog Miller joined an eating marathon. But overate, and both were dead, before we learned who won. Red Conn, who studied Mobile homes, sells them successfully. And Larry Ammann can ' t decide just what he wants to be. Steve Scott received a lucky break (from Alkatrz, that is). Elaine, most fortunate young girl, won thousands on a quiz. Marge Shiffer won a young man ' s heart by baking cherry pies. The world still comes to Edith ' s feet to see her sparkling eyes. James Morgan seems contented to live simply as a bum. G. Fenska much prefers to see what makes an engine hum. Kay Raby is at Central with her pleasantness so rare. Mt. Pleasant has been pleasanter while she has stayed up there.
