They won six, lost one, and tied two games. That they were respected by the rest of the league is attested to by the fact that out of the first eleven, two gained places on the all-county team and five more received honorable mentions. Guard Wayne Brooks and end Tom Hart made the first team while end Roily Tiller, guard Don VeCasey, center John Duncan, halfback Dave Childs, and fullback Russ Fisher received honorable mentions. All in all it was a very successful season. J. Sherman - R. Fisher - D. Childs T. Hart - K. DeLand - W. Brooks - J. Duncan - D. VeCasey - D. Crays - R. Tiller Our offense packed a good scoring punch, averaging 21 points a game with five backs getting 24 or more points for the season. Junior Sherman led the parade with 42 points. Bob Lerch kicked the only field goal of the season in the league - against Williamston, and added to his total of 18 extra points. The defensive eleven was the best in the league. They had to be, because every time a team scored on them, they were beaten or tied. They did, however, hold nine opponents to an average of 3.6 points per game, with the h elp of six shut-outs. They allowed just 14 points on the home field, and that was to Holt, a class B school (however, we managed to tie).
