Knowing in our hearts we wish to remain, we nevertheless look for¬ ward with mixed hope and fear of facing the world on our own. Our years of high school at Haslett have prepared us for this giant step in our lives and it is with gratitude and thanks to the administration, our teachers, and our parents that we leave to seek our fortunes. During the past thirteen years you have made steady progress and undoubtedly learned many lessons of consideration for self, family, friends and community. You have established yourself in community life and in its many avenues of interest. How well you have established yourself is dependent on how well you applied yourself and your abilities to the processes of learning. It is my sincere wish that each of you has a most happy and successful future. Apply yourself to each task and opportunity that confronts you - reflect back on your educational experiences that you had in your school, church, home and community - strive for the highest goals possible. If you do these things your success can be assured. Again, Best wishes and congratulations. F. J. Jappinga, Principal v ? .« • ' • ♦. % ’ l: v. 7 B. Graham, Trustee; J. Jennings, Trustee; T. That they were respected by the rest of the league is attested to by the fact that out of the first eleven, two gained places on the all-county team and five more received honorable mentions. Guard Wayne Brooks and end Tom Hart made the first team while end Roily Tiller, guard Don VeCasey, center John Duncan, halfback Dave Childs, and fullback Russ Fisher received honorable mentions. All in all it was a very successful season. Bob Lerch kicked the only field goal of the season in the league - against Williamston, and added to his total of 18 extra points. The defensive eleven was the best in the league. They had to be, because every time a team scored on them, they were beaten or tied. They did, however, hold nine opponents to an average of 3.6 points per game, with the h elp of six shut-outs. They allowed just 14 points on the home field, and that was to Holt, a class B school (however, we managed to tie).
