s 9 Senior Class Prophecy It is the year 1970 and we, Mr. and Mrs, Paul Browne, are at the Detroit Space-port buying our first tickets to Mars. After purchasing our tickets we started toward Rocket Elevator 4 where our ship was waiting. A red cap ap- proached us and offered to carry our bags. He seemed familiar and upon looking at him more closely, I saw to my surprise that he was Francis Naegele. Re- membering that he used to work in a meat market, I asked him what happened to his job there and he said, ‘‘Sausages and hot dogs have gone out of style.’ We entered the ship, taking seats near a window. All at once [ hearda familiar voice telling the passengers to fasten their safety belts. The voice was that of Virginia Genson, Chief Stewardess. She said she just loved her job, because she got to see so many of the sights of the world. Upon landing on Mars, we hailed a rocket taxi and found the driver to be Tom Armitage. Tom said he liked driving a rocket taxi because you go so tast you can't get into trouble. He then took us to our hotel. The next morning we bought tickets for a tour of Mars. While we were waiting for the tour to begin, I noticed a man and a woman with their three children. Looking at them stirred old memories and I was astonished to find that they were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hessman (formerly Dorothy Snyder.) Then began an enthusing conversation. Dorothy and Jim had just come from their home planet, Venus, where Jim is chief engineer of a large minins company. Dorothy had just published a book called, ‘‘The Peculiarities of Earthmen.’”’ The next day we continued our tour by visiting the capitol of Mars. Upon arriving we witnessed a ceremony dance. It was for the installation of the city’s first woman mayor, who turned out to be Joanne Asmus. We went to visit Joanne that evening and she introduced us to her secretary and to her business advisor. Her secretary turned out to be Marilyn Moore and her advisor, Charles Walker. We had a very enjoyable evening talking over past experiences. After a wonderful trip we boarded the Rocket for the return home. We were informed that the captain always introduced himself to the passengers. After taking off, a huge television set flicker ed on and we were very shocked to see who the captain was. It was my old schoolmate, Bob Asmus. He told the passengers that they could visit the control room if they wished, so as.soon as we were free we went to the captain's cabin. Bob was very glad to see us. After landing on earth, Bob took us to his home, which was a lovely pent- house apartment. He told us the apartment house was also the home of a world famous model. We thought it would be a novel experience to visit a model so we went to her apartment. A maid allowed us to enter and called her mistress. You can imagine my complete surprise to learn that the model was Ruth Gibbs. After a very interesting talk we left, for we were to go home the next day and had a busy day ahead of us. We arrived home the next day and agreed it had been a wonderful vacation. Will this really happen to the Senior Class of 1952;? Well, wait and see. 19

Senior Class Will As we, the Senior Class of 1952 embark on our careers into the world we think of our school careers. We want to leave memories of ourselves so we bequeath the following: To the Juniors as a whole we leave one slightly used class sponsor, Mr. Van Atta, hoping that he isn't too badly mutilated next year. To the Sophomores we leave our good looks. To the Freshmen we leave our ‘‘brains’’ such as they may be, hoping they make better use of them than we did. To the teachers we leave various frustration complexes. Jim Hessman cheerfully leaves his ability to ast up in English class without getting too many detentions for it to Jim Ryder and Darrel Duncan. Dorothy Snyder leaves her ability of going steady to anyone iu the Junior class who thinks he can maintain the record she did. To Milayne Walker she willis her slimness. Bill Browne leaves his ability of not getting detentions to Darrei Duncan. Joanne Asmus wills her ability to go steady and also her curly hair .o Barbara Rathbun. To Jack Armitage she cheerfully wills her ability of driving a car carefully. Tom Armitage wills his permanent seat in detention hall to Jim Ryder, hoping he doesn't wear it out too soon. Ruth Gibbs wills her good looks to Ann Arm itage, and she also wills her ability to be with a tall guy to Jeanette Hummel. Virginia Genson wills her happy-go-lucky ways to Gerry Watts and hopes she doesn't get into too much trouble because of them. Marilyn Moore wills her task of trying to get one certain man to Arlene Bower. Charles Walker leaves his good grades to John Falls hoping that someday John may become President of the United States. Francis Naegele wills his ability to roller skate to Phyllis Mourdock, hoping she will accomplish much this summer. Bob Asmus wills his ability to drive a car while looking at his companion to Marie Myers, hoping she doesn’t get’ involved in anv accidents. 18
