“C One quiet summer evening, as I sat in my easy chair idly pase sing the time, I began to wonder what had become of my old school chums--the ones with whom I had svent many hanpy davs of carefree youth. Right in the middle of a pleasant memory, I heard a knock on the door. Answering it, I found much to my chagrin none other than my old buddy Roger Bengtsone How time had changed him! And why not? After all, who can work all three shifts at Spicers and not show a little wear and tear? After we had chatted for a lit- tle while, he told me of the purpose of his visit. It seems that another old classmate, Bob Eckel, had decided to run for Chief of Police of downtown Haskinse (He thinks no one will ever suspect an officer of the lew.) Roger is his campaign manager--for IV. pon assuring Roger that I would not, even in my right mind vote for Bob, I began asking about the rest of the old gang. He was able to tell me that Sam Genson was recently promoted to head dog catcher of Bowling Green. One just never knows how successful one's friends will turn out, does one? He also tole me that Dene nis Sergent was still a student at Maskins High School working on his Senior year Chemistry classe It seems he just must have that credit to graduate. His motto seems to be If at first you don't succeed, try, try, a GUN$” Rod had run into another old pal the previous day. She was definitely wearing the New Look. Her dress was of huge black and white stripes. It seems that Bernita Now= ard is the matron in the Womens' Reformatory at Mansfield. Good Behavior’ Then, with e varting giggle, Rod bid me farewell. Because, he had aroused my curiosity, I sought out the town gossip who was able to give me some more information about my partners in crime. Norma Jean Walker and Henry Wauters finally got married and now have ten children. Arlyn Snvder is living with his folks still trying to get his 1934 Ford in running cone dition. Nelda Hartman is now the holder of the title Womens! Wrestling Champion of Northwestern Ohio and apnears nightly at the Civic Auditorium. Ray Porter and Lynn Snyder are partners in a business where they manufacture and sell glass hod carrierse Their slogan is Let us make light of your worke” (And they'd know how to do it--being authorities in the field.) Well, tempus fugit, and I must be offi I must be to go to all this trouble just to check up on the class of 1948. I must stop at the school to pick up my little boy Jerry Junior. He isn't doing too well in school this yeare His teacher, Shirley Heiman keeps sending home the same problem with him for arithmetic homee work. A school teacher makes $2200 and her expenses are $2600 and we can't figure it out either. Could we be pipe dreaming? Or is this really the class of 1948?
