It was terribly dark in in the attic, as no Light was ccring in from outside, and in groping to find the light, tf. stumbled over something stuck straight in my path. Immediately upon gaining the light switch I turned to see what hed barked my shine, and found a strange wooden box bl4cking my retreat. While trying to men it, ali kinds of things came into mind. But, at laet the iid came off, and to my surprise there lay, nothing put an empty box. agide feo m cus Gusty old magazine of 15 or 20 years back, packed into the bottom of it. I reached in after the magazine and carefully started to lift the cover, when suddenly the radiant smile of Mary Eilen Norvell, on the face. om the cover dazzled me. I gazed at her for a moment, and then eagerly dove into the magazine, in hopes of discovering the name of the gorgeous model. This page havpened to be the table of contents. Scanning the table for something that would throw a little light on the name I wes seeking, my eyes lit almast.immediatley upon the name in bold-faced type, pretty well toward the top of the list. The Girl He Left Behind , it said, A human interest story by the Editor Miss Clarissa Climbwell. Miss Clarissa Climbwell is in real life the world-famous Mrs. H.P. Clinker, wife of Admiral Clinker, whom everyone heard so much about during the last year. This magazine is a kind of hobby for her, and was published by her before her marriage, under her maiden name, Lenore Ziss. Mr, and Mrs. Clinker own a magnificent Long Island estate, but spend most of their time, in cruising around the world. Well, Well, fancy that! But now for a little more digging. Now, this is really my idea of a wedding. The footing says the pride is the former Miss Mavy Rébertson,,daughter of the Rev. Norman Je Robertson, who performed the ceremony. It go@s on to say that Rev. Robertson has served in his parish for seventeen years, and although he is now getting along in-years, almost any warm sunny afternoon he can be seen driving his tiny gray flivver through Central Park. heferring once The to my contents, the next item that struck my eye was headed: OTSHOT'S IDEAL OF THE WEEK , It sounded interesting, and when I began t6 read it proved even more 80. At the very top was a picture of a coupi®, old and bewrinkled, standing before the door of the sr modest home. The inscription beneath read: This week, Hotshot's prize of $10.00 for the Ideal of the Week goes to Mr. and Mrs. Morris Wenig as having the most nearly perfect farm in this state. Mr. Wenig and his wife, the = former Evelyn Michaelis, are very happy in their little home, and almost any evening they may be found at home. It is sata that they “i 2 turned down offers for as much as $20,000 for their farm. fe ae bative ahi of this title, it says here, and the proud cae Sri shiny silver dollars, is a bonny lass by the Zerg boler, who is the manageress of a home for Spins’ ow | ae 7 {Phe cn of this home ig the Delker area for Dimp1 a) owdeers: EEL fame publishes its own magazine, Vite ARS aa ante! Let's see hers's a little article that might be good reading. it's headed, Farm Forum , it says here that none other than our own Secretary of Agriculture, Richard Eckel by name, will speak over the Farm Forum , broadcast tonight at 7:30. Bencath the picture it says that Shorty Eckel is ouite famous for that friendly smile, which he showers freely on all that are arcund hin. Well, to go on, the next article is called Topper Teen Timers , and it really is a spread. It features a full--page picture of Teen Timer Show of 1950 , and the limelight is centered upon Miss Beverly Armitage. producer and director. Miss Armitage, althcugh she is still whole-heart and fancy free, writes a very remarkable column in the daily paper, entitled ‘The Hmppy Home , Aw gee, I’m through the book and I was just getting really interested. Here's the last page, though. Just look at those old-fashioned horn-rimmed spectacles: Just who is this distinguished. looking creature? Up here at the top it says that, since this is Educational Week all over the country, the Hot-shot has chosen as the typical educational leader Miss Phyllis Ryder, Latin teacher at Ohio State University. Miss Ryder says that she is happiest when she can just be by herself, in front of an open fireplace, with a good book and read away quietly to her hearts content. Well, so enés the book, I really had found that magazine worth the time it took, and I had solv ed the mystery of my gover girl, and yet----it still seemed a little strange, All these people are famed in théir own line, every one excels in some certain field, and they all seem to come from practically the same locality. Although I can't quite fix them in my mind, even the town sounds familiar. Perrysburg, Bowling Green, Haskins, ---mamnn Maskins$ Yes, of course. How could I have ever forgotten? Haskins 4s our old home-town and Haskins Hi was our Alma Mater. These distinguished people were the ciass of '46, the kids who worried with us over Government, scrapped with us over typewriters, joined us in all our fun, and even helped us Grive the Faculty to a ‘nervous breakdown! Ah yes, those were the good old days, as any of our teachers will tell you ( if they have by this time sufficiently recovered). But those days, the good times we had then, are now just dear memories. ; Yes, this was all written in fun, but there is more to it than that. Now, as you face the future, as your Hi School days are drawing $0 a close, we, the Junior Class, join with the Faculty in bidding you a fond farewell, and extending to you our heartiest wisnege for much success from now on.
