We Haskell V Street. 1959 60. eva., ndian friends join in the colorful parade. ere There for the 7 Sth Anniversary. ua form the color guard leading the parade down Massachusetts students represented the 75 tribes registered at Haskell for Who, better than Haskell students, will remember the 75th anniversary, tor we were there tor the O-Malta lyehantu' tSioux words for cele- brationj. Who will remember the Homecom- ing game with Maur Hill, which Haskell lost? Half-time ceremonies and the crowning of Miss Patsy Sam, Mississippi, as Homecoming Queen was more than beautiful. Dressed in colorful costumes, the Indian maidens rode on horses as they entered the Stadium. The Homecoming dance was a gay and lively affair even though we lost the game. The agenda for the next day included a downtown parade. The calvacade of Indians in both native and modern dress included students representing each of the 75 tribes at Haskell. At Hiawatha, the girls' gym, exhib- its of the crafts of many tribes in the U. S. and Alaska were shown. Former students saw themselves again as stu- dents at Haskell in group pictures of classes and athletes. Classmates of years ago were seen in groups, enjoy- ing a reunion. Many had not seen each other since graduation. U. S. Senator Frank Carlson spoke at the dedication of the girls' dormi- tory fMinokaJ and the commercial building, Blue Eagle. Mrs. Hildegard Thompson, chief of the Branch of Education, BIA, told about the life of Dr. Rosa Minoka Hill, famous hu- manitarian, and Acee Blue Eagle, re- nowned artist and lecturer, for whom the two new buildings on the Haskell Campus were named. The stories made us proud of our race and heritage. QLeftj Mr. Pete Shepherd, '31, boys' adviser, prepares exhibits in Hiawatha for open house. QRightJ Emma Aitson, one of the Q'ueen's attendants, rides into the Stadium for the coronation at the Homecoming Game.
