Now, Pause o moment . . . . Your school years are nearly one-third of your life. These years are formative years .... in them are the experiences which mold you as a person. They are the most important years of your life. Yet, you exert an even more important force of the school .... You are the school. The Haskell Public Schools are people .... YOU .... and it is for that reason, the Chieftain Staff has tried to picture This Year at Haskell Public Schools .... in terms of 'YOU'. We tried to show you having fun during the noon hour, marching glumly out of class after a test, yelling with full gusto after the Indians score. While it was easy to record these physical experiences we found it harder to record that inner spirit that makes you a Haskell Indian. So we decided to represent it by a caricature ....... you'll see him featured in the color picture and on the division pages. This nameless Indian is that all important Spirit that makes you stand a little higher when the School Song is played .... that makes your ears perk up and your eyes brighten when Haskell Schools are mentioned .... that makes YOU. So to You, Mr. and Miss. Haskell Public Schools of 1959 we are glad to say: THIS IS YOUR LIFE. Sincerely, Becky Busby
