SOCCER TEAM HAS DISAPPOINTING SEASON The varsity soccer team had its share of ups and downs this season with a record of 5, 6, 1. It was a re¬ building season for coach Glenn Rose with only 1 1 re¬ turning lettermen. Seniors Lennie Miranda, Andy Mason, George Fer¬ reira, Peter Pena, Brad Chase, Mike McLCormick, Ken Fehrnstrom, and Mike Ross. Juniors Harry Vrountas, and Doug Martin, and one Sophomore Chris Fehrnstrom. Many first year players were also a great asset to the young team. Seniors John Warren handling the Goaltending duties and speedy Steve Gonzales who was second in scoring on the team behind Lennie Mi¬ randa. Juniors Jay Gomes and Joe Caliri added a punch to the offense and the defense. The team showed strong signs of being a champion¬ ship team in the beginning of the season, but due to the injuries sustained during the season it made the task very difficult. Despite the hardships the team tried its best and never gave up. Senior Lennie Miranda was voted to the Cape and Islands All-Star Team, having been the teams high scorer. Peter Pena received an award for best sports¬ manship.
