adaewdle 0464 Painesville, Ohio, located 30 miles due east of Cleveland and one mile from Lake Erie, has long been noted as the original Garden Spot of America. This completely unexaggerated recommendation was not a chamber of commerce banner but rather an award of national fame, earned by the local nurseries and flower experts. Not only fruit trees and shrubs but also roses, peonies and scores of other flowers, grow prosper- ously in the select soil of the surrounding country- side. A total of 40 important nurseries can be counted within a few miles of the downtown area. These in turn employ a large percentage of the work- ing potential of the territory.

and bathe Kenra... Five hundred students make up the roll of Painesville Har- vey High School in 1950-5l. One hundred eighty-three are in the graduating senior class. Harvey stands as a proud expanding example of American democratic education. The faculty, as a whole very young and vigorous but with the right temper of age mixed in, is a perfect blend. Every modern improvement has or is being realized. Driver Education, Ohio's third best music department, Visual Educa- tion, four varsity athletics and uncounted intramural activities for both boys and girls, superior Student Publications, drama- tics, clubs, boards and the utmost in democratic student gav- ernment are all offered. These and many other phases of high school life at Har- vey make every one of those l83 seniors look back with pride and a bit of sadness. The years to come, clouded or bright, shall continue tio produce classes of strong willed, dependable, deep thinking citizens from our alma mater. I
