PREFACE As We, the Editors, present to the Class of 1917 the Red Book for its Freshman year, it is with the hope that it may be an efficient direc- tory of men in the class, a fitting record of the achievements of the class, and, above all, a stronger bond of class unityg that men during their college course and after it will, through the Red Book, feel a closer connection with a class which deserves a far superior record and memento than our eliorts have produced. The response to the call for candidates for the Red Book this year was considerably larger than in previous years, and throughout the competition the same class spirit was evident which has marked the course of 1917 during its first year. The Editors wish to thank C. F. Farrington, '16, R. Sanger, ,I5, T. Sizer, '16, and the Harvard Crimson for their kind assistance and suggestions. With these forewords We present the Red Book to the class.
