During his tenure he was twice called to Washington as a consulting expert for the Treasury De- partment. He has been Legal Advisor to the American Association of Uni- versity Professors on problems of academic freedom and tenure, and he has worked on the Model Code of Evidence, the Income Tax Project of the American Law Institute and on the A.B.A. Committee on jurisprudence and Law Reform. ARTHUR TAYLOR von MEHREN Professor of Law At present Professor von Mehren is on leave in India under the auspices of the Ford Foundation. Before his appointment to the faculty in 1946, Professor von Mehren was law clerk to Judge Cal- vert Magruder. While in law school, he was an Editor of the Law Review, graduating in 1945. During 1956-57 he was a Fulbright Professor at the University of Tokyo. Professor von Mehren is on the Board of Editors of the American Journal of Comparative Law and is Vice President of the American Foreign Law Association.
