In 1960, he published an Introduction to The flrial of lbe U-2, a transcript of the record of the trial of Francis Powers in Moscow. Professor Berman has also been active in promoting the teach- ing of law in the liberal arts curriculum. His book, The Namre and l:lHlCf.:0ll.f of Law, is used as a text in many colleges. He has written extensively on problems of East-West trade, and he regularly gives a seminar in Legal Problems of Inter- national Trade, Born: 19183 Hartford, Connecticut. He served on the Board of Edi- tors of the Law Review and received his LL.B, in 195-1. After graduation, he spent a year in Paris as a Fulbright Scholar. Wliile in Europe, he wrote a monograph, The Firrl Three Yemzr of llve Scbrflmm Plan, which was published as one of Princeton University's Studies in International Finance, Follow- ing his year abroad, he entered military service, serving as Assistant to the General Counsel, Oflice of the Secretary of the Army. ROBERT BRAUCHER Pl'0f0.1'.1'0l' of Law After graduation from the Law School, Professor Braucher practiced in New York City and then enlisted in the Army in 19111, serving as a hghter pilot and later as an intelligence officer, I-le joined the Law School faculty in 19116. He has served as a consultant to the General Counsel of the Department of the Air Force and the New York Law Revision Commission. He is serving on the Massachusetts Commission on' Uniform State Laws and is a Reporter for the REJ'fHlEIll0llf of C 0711 mc'l.r Seromf, Professor Braucher is author of several books on Commercial Law, a course he teaches in addition to Agency, the Legal Pro- fession, and a seminar in Commercial Law. A graduate of both Harvard College and the Law School, he graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the Fay Diploma. PAUL MICHAEL BATOR Arrirlaazf P1'0fe.r.r01' of Law Graduate of Princeton and holder of a Masters Degree in History from Harvard, Professor Bator is a 1956 graduate of the Law School, where he was president of the Law Review. He served for one year as clerk for Mr. justice john M. Harlan of the Supreme Court of the United States, and then practiced for two years with a New York firm. He then served in the Othce of General Counsel, De- partment of Defense, and has been a consultant to that office and to the Naval War College. Professor Baxter joined the Law School Staff in 1954 as Re- search Associate in the International Waterwriys Project. He presently is collaborating with Professor Sohn on a draft codi- Hcation of the Law of ReJ'j1w1rib.ili!y of Sfuler for the United Nations. ERNEST JOSEPH BROWN Professor Uf Law After several years in private practice, Professor Brown began his academic career in 1937 at the University of Buffalo Law School. He continued to teach while maintaining his practice, which was devoted primarily to constitutional, tax, and corporate matters. He served in the Army during World War II and joined the faculty of the Law School in 19516. With Professors Freund, Howe, and Sutherland, he is editor of a Casebook on Constitutional Law, His teaching includes classes and seminars in taxation. Born: 19063 Lake Providence, Louisiana. CLARK BYSE Profeuzzr 0 Law Following his graduation from Wisconsin in 1958, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, Professor Byse became Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Law at the University of Iowa. In 1940, he began a five-year period of government and war service. ln 1946, he was named an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania and Professor of Law two years later. He came to the Law School in 1957. ANDREW JAMES CASNER .flJ.r0rinle Deniz and ll7el:Z Prnfeuor of Law A member of the Law School faculty since 1938, Professor Casner previously served on faculties at the laws schools of Illi- nois, Maryland, Michigan, Texas, and Stanford universities. Fre- quently participating in alumni and American Bar Association activities, he is presently a member of the Bar Associations Standing Committee on Professional Ethics.
