Mrs. Tyskling f L I . K, This year is Mrs. Martin Tyskling's fortieth year with the school - forty years of striving for an even better learning environment. It all began in 1933 when she came to the old St. George School as a teacher, filled with idealism. She disliked the rigidity of the schools of that time, the forcing of students into predetermined slots and desired a more humane institution encouraging individualism. Be- coming director in 1934, Mrs. Tyskling now worked to implement her ideals into the school. The passing years presented many problems - contagions, war, prejudice, and lack of funds but Mrs. Tyskling weathered them all and retained her idealism. She now looks forward to the realization of her hopes for a new building with adequate recreation facilities before her retirement. This would indeed be a fitting conclusion of her long career with Harvard St. George.
