The girls began the hockey season with much enthusiasm, but bad weather soon dampened their spirits. The regular class teams had to be replaced by two large teams which were headed by Jacqueline Bunner and Viola Zins. Three closely contested games resulted in -Iacqulineis team winning 2 out of 3. Those who showed skill in the sport and attended faithfully, in spite of the inclement weather, were chosen for the honorary hockey team by Miss Gradolf and Mrs. Dondero, instructors, and Virginia Brewer, hockey manager. BASKETBALL -,.,-nf' First Row - R. Speak, R. Hopkins, W. Porter, E. Johnson, J. Hauek, A. Leienberger, M. McCormick. Second Row - E. Lutz, L. Avery, A. lllorgan, D. Blerkl, A. McGuffey, M. Evans, M. Manley. Although a strenuous sport, basketball is popular be- cause of its requirements of skill and agility. Under the direction of our instructors, Mrs. Dondero and Miss Gra- dolf, and basketball manager Evelyn Johnson, the freshmen learned the fundamentals of the game and the upperclass- men improved their knowledge and skill of the game. At the basketball play-day held at Walnut Hills, March 6, our girls met representatives from other city schools. The girls came out winning three out of four games from the schools they played, rounding out their basketball season very successfully. xi 1' -1 if Ll Miss Gradolf Caught OH' Guard 74
