One of its members, Lonnie Auterson, placed fourth. It is yet too early to predict the outcome of the spring golf season. There is to be no valley tour- nament this year, but the boys will play teams from other city schools and compete in the city tournament on May 16. Hartwell's tennis team placed second in the fall M. Left to Right - L. Cooper, L. . li VOLLEYBALL The volleyball team, under the able leadership of Coach Art Reisner, had a very suc- cessful season. Beginning with Hithrow, they won two out of the three games with scores of 5-15, 15-6, 15-9. YValnut Hills, taking three defeats of 15-12, 15-6, and 15-3, were the next victims, followed closely by Building, which received 15-3, 15-4, and 15-7 set backs. Losing three games to Hughes, tallying 9-15, 8-15, and 12-15, the Hartwell team came back to defeat Electrical 15-6, 15-4, and 15-9, thus tak- ing second place in the City Volleyball League. In the City Tourna- ment, Hartwell was barely beaten out of first place by the Hughes team with a 12-15 score. BOWLING TEAM 3 Kneel ng B Ha s J H ll Ha ke Stand ng W McA del C Casm r A H lin W Thls winter ten teams participated in the school bowling league Meeting every Thursday afternoon, the teams showed much enthuslasm ln competlng for the bowling medals whlch were to be awarded to the first three teams Each week the five boys having the highest scores formed a team to compete with teams from other schools on the following Saturday At the end of the season the five boys with the highest averages were Frank Hays Bud Elche Paul Weber, Gilbert Bruegeman and Charles Castner Coach Art Relsner, the organizer of the league was pleased with its success and prophesied a traditional bowling league for future years GYM TEAM For the first time ln the history of the school, Hartwell entered a team in the high school gym meet of Cincinnati Overcoming the handicap of insufficient facilities and few contestants, the boys showed the old Hartwell spirit and made their presence known.
