With an aim to train needed material for the future varsity teams, a reserve basketball squad was organized. To give varied experience to as many as possible the boys alternated in playing and in acting as captain. Although unsuccessful as far as winning games is concemed, they suc- ceeded in gaining valuable experience under Coach Art Reisner, assisted by alumnus Ben Hensley. 62 I 1 f I

V. I.. L. By racking up thir- teen points in the Reading game, the last of the season, Red Castner was able to win the honor of high point man of the Millcreek League with a total of eighty-three points.

Left to Right - L. Cooper, L. . li VOLLEYBALL The volleyball team, under the able leadership of Coach Art Reisner, had a very suc- cessful season. Beginning with Hithrow, they won two out of the three games with scores of 5-15, 15-6, 15-9. YValnut Hills, taking three defeats of 15-12, 15-6, and 15-3, were the next victims, followed closely by Building, which received 15-3, 15-4, and 15-7 set backs. Losing three games to Hughes, tallying 9-15, 8-15, and 12-15, the Hartwell team came back to defeat Electrical 15-6, 15-4, and 15-9, thus tak- ing second place in the City Volleyball League. In the City Tourna- ment, Hartwell was barely beaten out of first place by the Hughes team with a 12-15 score.
