After warming up its motors in a preliminary contest with a powerful Withrow formation, the Hartwell squadron took off on its annual fiight of football games. Throughout the first four games, against Electrical, West Carrolton, Lockland, and Automotive, the squad had clear fiying, unmarred except by the six points given to Lockland in an exciting night raid . These six points, however, went for naught when compared to the ninety-eight points piled up by our team during the same period. Suddenly our high-flying plane of victories hit an air-pocket, and we lost two games before the wings could be righted. The loss of the Walnut Hills games emptied our tanks, and the Wyoming game grounded us temporarily. After repairs had been made and the tanks refilled, our ship took off and had clear flying over Reading. YVe then headed into the last run towards North College Hill. With ceiling zero, visibility low and light precipitation, the squad fought its way to a thirteen-to-six victory, to land safely on home soil. just as one accident can ruin a round-the-world flight, our two accidents mined our chances for the two league championships, landing us in second place in both leagues. The flight was under the command of lNIr. Blillcr who, through three years of hard work and sacrifice, built up one of the finest squads ever to take the field for Hartwell. 58
