It is as organized to instruct new students in the rules and customs of the school. Each Yigilante met with a group of new pupils and discussed with them their course of study, the payment of fees, and rules for eligibility in sports. For three years the Nlath IV students had been looking forward to the time when they would become members of Mu Omega Sigma. Immediately upon their return to school this year, they began plying bliss Gladys Kloak with questions as to when they could organize. Toward the end of September they arranged to have meetings the second and fourth Fridays of each month, and elected Charles Lind- ner president and Evelyn Johnson secretary-treasurer. WV ith plans under way for visits to factories and airplane fields to see math in use, they turned to the lighter side and prepared for entertainment. Among the events planned were a hamburger party and waffle feast, at which they tried to calculate the capacity of the nine boys and three girls for consuming food. ,Z

The boys were guided by Mr. Arthur Gray. faculty advisor, and Mr. John B. Baker, Boys' Y secretary, a new mem- ber of the advisory staff who has greatly helped and brightened the future of the club. SOPHGMURE HIY The Junior Hi-Y, now known as the Sophomore Hi-Y, is a division of the Hi-Y, a national organization for boys sponsored by the Y. M. C. A. At Hartwell the group is composed of twenty freshmen and sophomore boys. ln order to join the club, all incoming members must take the pledge to create, maintain, and extend high standards of Christian character throughout the school and community. The club meets each week at the suburban Y. M. C. A. for a business meeting program. High spots of this year's program consisted of a lecture by Mr. Bert Hallen- stien, world traveler, a skating party, and a hay ride. Mr. Korlitz and hir. Mooar, student teachers, acted as sponsors. 47
