With nine lettermen reporting to Coach Kinsley at the start of the 1957-58 cage season, the prospects looked bright. An opening season loss to North Canton failed to dampen our hopes. Uphill victories over Marlboro and Green the next week proved that our boys were fast improving and developing into a smooth working team. Victories over Brewster and Mogadore during the Christmas vacation were real team efforts. The Streaks gained runnerup honors in a holiday tournament held at Revere High School. Ianuary and February saw the Streaks continue to dominate league action. A memorable come-from- behind victory over the Brewster Railroaders at Brewster assured us of an undisputed league Champion- ship with a 6-0 league record. Highlighting the 1957-58 season was the improved tournament play of the Streaks. Hundreds of local fans were treated to a fine display of team play and basketball finesse as our boys easily toppled Navarre and defending champion Brewster to bring home the County Class A Tourney Crown. It has been fif- teen years since our school could boast of such an accomplishment. The Hartville Cage Express was finally stalled by the Columbiana Clippers in the finals of the state sectional tournament. This disputed and controversial game will be a topic of conversation for many years to come. G
