CLASS HISTORY One sunny fall day rn 1939 srxty small wrde eyed flrst graders started then long road to become educated 1nd1v1duals for SOCIGIY The flrst year we were d1v1ded rnto two groups one being taught by Mrss Ashton the other by Mrss Ianson We were an exceedrngly brrllrant group and learned fast In fact 1t took only the better part of that year for us to learn our AB Cs The students whrch started that year and are strll with us are Dlck Ebre Lydta Mae Mrller Mary Lou Walker Ioan Graber Tom Koontz Lawrence Oswald Betty Moor Kerth Pontrus Fem Pontrus B111 Sus co Henry Taylor lack Stnckxch Vrrgrl Domer B111 Klnsley Davrd Hamble ton and Ioan Essrg Our group found many happy hours playmg at recess on the swmgs and see saws Our second grade teachers were Mrss Cordler and Mrss Ianson That year we struggled through the Ahce and Ierry books Cops and robbers or cow boy and Indrans were our favonte games at recess For the thud grade we had MISS Keller and Mrss Kostus Oh that long awarted tune was now over' Fmally we could play at recess on the other slde of the school We also recerved the three R s rn more conuntatron In the fourth grade our teacher was Mrss Shaffer Th1s year we recerved the fundamentals of geography d1v1s1on and multrplrcatron The next year we really were the B1g Guns fWell at least we thought sol We now had our home room upstarrs Our teachers were Mrss Pnce and Mr Brumbaugh We were dellghted to recerve two new students B1ll1e Mc Brayer and Gwen Harr1s In the srxth grade we were rn Mxss Pnce and Mr Werstler s rooms Alon wnh studres we leamed handrcraft rn both rooms That year Grnny Hersh berger Mary Beebe and Iamce Shoemaker jorned us Our seventh grade was one year we all were lookrng forward to Now we could change classes wrth the b1g hrgh school krds' But lh1S year also proved fatal to one of our best lrked classmates Herman Stoll was krlled ln a tractor accxdent Our home room teachers that year were Mr Kmder and Mr Knrght That year Ed Lrmbach 10 ned us In the erghth grade our teachers were Mrs Goodson and Mxss Underwood Mrs Goodson our class sponsor that year started us savrng money for our future class tnp by collectrng sales tax stamps That year Iack Clark 1o1ne.i us After a slaughter of an 1n1t1at1on we became full fledged Freshmen Our class offrcers were as follows Pres1dent lack Clark V1cePres1dent lack Stnckrch Treasurer Paul Hrmmelnght and Secretary Lydra Mae Mrller Tn year we had two class partres and a dance We also recerved Mary Van Hooser Ruth Lavy and Iohn Aman as newcomers to our class In the Sophomore year our class members were busily strugglmg through Latm II Brology and Plane Geometry Class offlcers that year were Presr dent Ed Lxmbach V1cePres1dent Iack Clark Treasurer Drck Ebre and Sec retary Lydra Mae Mrller We sold pennants and vanous other artxcles for money makrng that year We also ordered our class sweaters and lackets Wh1Ch are a very neat blue and gray The fall of our Iumor year found everyone droolxng over our new flashy jackets and sweaters We put on a melodrama play For Her Chrld s Sake whrch brought the house down at H H S Thrs year we really drd well fm ancrally havlng held paper dnves bake sales a Sweetheart Dance and Bas ketball concessxons We held a beautrful Prom at Shady Hollow County Club Our class OIIICGIS were Pres1dent Tom Koontz V1cePres1dent Ed Lrmbach Treasurer Drck Ebre and Secretarv Lydra Mae Mlller The only new mem ber of our class that year was Nancy Harnngton We also ordered our beau trful solid gold concave class nngs rn the spnng to be delxvered when we became Senrors Fmally we came to the last mrlestone m our school careers Now we were Senior' Our rrngs came rn the fall and most every Senlor could be seen . . . - . .v 1 1 , 1 - 1 1 1 . . 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 ' , 1 - 1 - 1 , . , ., . 1 1 - 1 1 ' . 1 1 ' . . . . 1 , 1 1 3 1 1 - 1 L . . . 4 , , 1 . 1 1 1 - 1 1 ' 1 . . . . . . . . 1 1 1 1 1 - 5- 1 1 - 1 1 1 - - ' 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 - 1 1 1 - 11 - 1 11 - 1 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 ' - 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 A 1 1 1 1 1 1
