Underneath these adverse conditions we are gratefully indebted to those who worked with us, those who so unselfishly and wholeheartedly gave their all important time to us with no reward save the will to gain the student body's sincere approval of the final product. The ALLEGRO staff began the year in a state of carefully planned disorganization. Ere long we found our little staff faced with a blank book and nothing to fill it. That was when desperation set in, as our first deadline loomed portentiously. 1: Abandoning health, the horses, and love life ftemporarilyj, we inaugurated a wild picture- taking spree, and attempted to follow our photography editor into every nook and corner of the school. The result was astounding. What pictures! Our staff worked nights. Days too, of course, but the nights are most memorable. Long after sensible souls were cozily situated in bed a quartet or so of the faithful, bent bleary-eyed over their individual duties. Forced to make their way out of the building in total darkness, the staff resourcefully learned the precise nember of steps on the stairs. There were 21 down to the second landing, 27 down to the first, and always of course one person would bump into Hal Rudeen's Den . No novice could ever find the latch on the door. For many long months, the members of the staff have worked hard and faithfully--sometimes peacefully, sometimes--well sometimes not so peacefully. They have gone to classes many a morning with hastely prepared assignments. They have, at times, worked until the early hours of the morning to meet a deadline. If this volume pleases our reader, our efforts will not have been in vain. ALVIN S. LAPUK 45
