J. W. Gainey was elected president. We began to sell coffee at the ball games and made enough money to buy a water cooler. The students from Antioch and Lydia were now coming to Harts-ville and were making new friends. The new building was started. We were so anxious to move into our new quarters. Spanish seems to be puzzling Bill, Dexter, and Ralph. 22

Although it was not completed, we went into the new building. With Miss Martha Hicklin and Miss Betty June Kirkland as sponsors, and Delmas Allen, president, we began to work to make money for Junior-Senior. We sold coffee and candy at the football games, held dances after the football and basketball games, and presented a play, The Curious Savage, under the direction of Miss Laura Mclnnes, dramatics teacher. After months of work, worry, and making decisions, we began drawing the scenes. The big night, April 29, arrived. The girls, in their beautiful dresses, and the boys, looking very distinguished in their dinner jackets, made a very handsome group at the dance with scenes of April in Paris in the background. Lunch time!
