Urn Ijtater When impulse only was our guide. We looked to nothing else but tried To do the tasks that came to hand Without thy aid; nor yet we planned To make our purposes confine Themselves to aims mature, divine. 'Twos then we came within thy fold. To learn of thee, thy truth behold. Refrain O Alma Mater, Mother dear, Thy name we love, adore, revere, Revere, adore, we love thy name, O Hartsville High always the same In constancy, and purpose clear, O Alma Mater, Mother dear.

PRINCIPAL MR. DOYLE W. BOGGS B.S., Presbyterian College M.A., Duke University DEAN OF GIRLS MISS HELEN BAKER B.A., University of Richmond M.A., Columbia University DEAN OF BOYS MR. W. P. CRAWFORD B.A., University of South Carolina OUR SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE I congratulate you, the Senior Class members, on your achievements. You have proven that you possess the necessary qualities to make a success of your life. May the guidance that your Alma Mater has afforded challenge each of you: to pattern your role in life so that it conforms to the principles of Christian world citizenship, to acquire the capacity for cultivating true friendships: having good friends and being a good friend, to choose the occupation for which you are best suited, be proud of it, work hard at it, make work fun and take a proportionate amount of time out for wholesome recreation, to be yourself, using to the best advantage your native creative ability and contributing something that has come purely from the manipulation of your own unique facilities, to remember that life is not made up of all successes and that mistakes carry lessons for those who are willing to learn.
