THE g 0 RETROSPECT ■@5siO1340Ci = B' PUBLISHED BY SENIOR CLASS OF HARTSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL HARTSVILLE SOUTH CAROLINA Member South Carolina Scholastic Press Association The Editors Say .... In presenting this book ice have tried to reflect some idea of school life that will be as interesting gears hence as when the covers are first opened. Believing this to be the main purpose of an annual, we think that our efforts during the last few months have not been in vain if this book conveys a glimpse of school life at Harts-ville High School. We ask only appreciation where it is due and leniency where we have fallen short of your goal. Thus we put the Nineteen Forty RETROSPECT before its severest critics—our readers. THE RETROSPECT = 3 In Appreciation .... From its beginning the Hartsville High School has looked proudly upon its many graduates who. by their deeds of loyal service to their community. state, and country, reflect glory and honor on their Alma Mater. Their traditions, hopes, and ideals are guarantees that the students of future generations may always find direction to a higher destiny, inspiration to a deeper, more enduring faith. To these, our alumni—that their deeds may be revered forever—the Nineteen Forty Edition of Thf. Rhtrosphct is, in grateful remembrance, dedicated by the senior class of the Hartsville High School.
