GLASS IIISTDRY o trace the history of our class we must go back to the year 1936 when Lee, Fran, and Ann were members of that never to be forgotten co-ed pre-kindergarten set. That year block-building and jungle-gym climbing were our main accomplishments, but the following year Lee and Ann amazed both playmates and faculty by mustering the then difiicult task of tieing shoe laces, and were consequently appointed by the teachers official shoe-lacer-tiers for all the Mushroom inhabitants. These three musketeers, leaving their beaux behind, marched hautily into the first grade to meet Liz and Phoebe. That year was one long sucession of bickerings between Lee and Phoebe, who, at first sight, had become bitter enemies, which were interrupted only to comment on the long, tan woolen stock- ings and high-button shoes that were forced on the unfortunate Liz by a prudent mama. Fran joined us in the second grade and by the time we reached third grade had proved herself a mathematical genius, as she was the only one who could cope with long division. In the fourth grade Ellen appeared and was an eager participant in our lengthy conversations concerning Fairfax's emergency appendectomy. That year also was highlighted by our trip to Easton, Penn- sylvania, to be present at Miss McGee,s wedding, from which we arrived home at the unheard of hour of 2:00 A.M. A circus mural was our fifth grade contribution to posterity, while the most mournful, but also most momentous, event of our sixth grade year took place when our long-idolized English teacher, Miss Tuttle, departed for Turkey. We had been introduced to French and the facts of life by the time we reached seventh grade, where we were rejoined by Fran and introduced to Barb. Graduation Cand for this occasion some of us donned our very first pair of nylonsj was the main feature of that year.
