— THE 1965 ORACLE — Sadness was reflected throughout the school and community with the loss of Carmen Hennings, Class of 1964. Memories remain, however, of her whole-hearted approach to her chosen activi- ties — drama, debate, band, and Future Teachers of America. Her excellent grades kept her on the honor roll, and her superior acting won the senior drama award. Hartley High School and the Oracle staff will treasure these memories of Carmen Hennings, Oracle Queen of 1964. Page ii

- THE 1965 ORACLE — Each fall, shortly after school begins, one thing most H.H.S. students look forward to is the purchasing of their Oracles. The selling of the Oracles is done by members of the publications staff. When a student buys an Oracle he is given the privilege of voting for an Oracle Queen. There is one candidate chosen from each class and the girl receiving the largest amount of votes is given the honor of reigning over that year's Oracle. Another girl is chosen from the Queen's class and she, along with the other three candidates, serve as the Queen's Court. Near the end of the school year a party and dance is held, at which time the students receive their Oracles. The Queen and her court proudly reign over these festivities.
