— THE 1964 ORACLE — To you, Mr. Borchard, whom we will long remember, honor, and respect for your years of guidance in preparing us for the future, we dedicate this 1964 Oracle. Mr. Borchard attended high school at Spencer. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree at Wayne State Teachers College at Wayne, Nebraska, and his Master of Arts degree at the University of South Dakota at Vermillion, South Dakota. He came to Hartley in 1954 as an English teacher and became principal in 1956. He stepped up to the position of superintendent this year. We will always appreciate the guidance that Mr. Borchard has given us. Page One

— THE 1964 ORACLE — 1963 1964 Construction on our new Hartley High School began July 15, 1962. Karl Keffer Associates, Des Moines, were the architects. Contractors were: general - Sioux Contractors, Sioux City; mechanical - Webster Plumbing and Heating, Spencer; electrical - Bobs Electric, Remsen. The school was completed on September 2, 1963. Fine facilities have been provided in our new school. A good example of this would be the home economics, ag. and shop departments. The shelves under the win- dows and closets in each classroom provide adequate storage space for teacher’s ma- terials. The many fine points of the school are too numerous to mention. SCIENCE LAB.
