— 1963 ORACLE — TEACHER OF THE YEAR Mr. O. C. Abbott The Oracle staff is happy to honor Mr. Oliver C. Abbott as the first-named “Teacher of the Year.” Mr. Abbott has been a member of the Hartley faculty since 1949, coming here from Rochester. Minnesota. He is an outstanding classroom teacher who has additional duties as audio-visual supervisor for the entire faculty; he is advisor to the Student Council; and he, in conjunction with Mr. Borchard, is responsible for the annual Science Fair. — 1963 ORACLE — THOMAS B. DUNSMOOR We, the members of the Oracle staff, wish to dedicate this annual to Mr. Thomas B. Dunsmoor, who has devoted his services to the Hartley schools for the past sixteen years. Mr. Dunsmoor first joined the staff as a mathematics teacher and assistant coach in all sports. He later advanced to the position of Principal, for the past 10 years he has served as Superintendent of Hartley schools. He is president of the Iowa Association of School Administrators, and is a member of the Planning Board of the Iowa Association of School Administrators. He is also a representative on the Iowa High School Athletics Association. A graduate of the Fort Dodge high school and Junior college, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree at the State College of Iowa, and his Master of Arts degree at the University of Colorado. He has attended Colorado University, Columbia Uni- versity, and Iowa State University for additional studies. Under Mr. Dunsmoor’s guidance. Hartley has developed into an outstanding school system. Included in his accomplishments have been a district reorganization, an addition to the elementary building, and a new high school. It is with a great deal of pride that we dedicate the Oracle to the man who has served the school and community with true concern for the youth of our schools.
