— 1963 ORACLE — CUSTODIANS Vern Donnenwerth and Herman DeYoung HARTLEY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION The activities of the Hartley Education Association of the Hartley Community School were quite extensive for the 1962-1963 school year. The officers were Glenn Wehrkamp, president; Bill Blair, vice president; Dee Kolpin, secretary; and Walter Kelley, treasurer. The stand-out activities presented by the H. E. A. were the minstrel show and the math program presented at the school. The purpose of the minstrel show was to raise funds for scholarships for individuals interested in making teaching a profession. Over $800 was made from the two night presentation. The math program had 200 in attendance as Miss Brennan, Miss Houston M rs. Anderson and Mr. Wehrkamp presented new techniques and terminology in the teaching of modern math. Another activity which turned out to be quite a success was the H. E. A. Christmas party held at Stub’s in Spencer. We had 50 people in attendance. A con- tribution of $68 was made by the faculty to the scholarship fund rather than spending this money on grab-bag gifts for the party. The final activity of the 1962-1963 school year for H. E. A. will be the spring dinner, when the new officers for the H. E. A. will be announced.
