VARSITY FOOTBALL The 1986 football season didn ' t turn out as planned, winning the KVC champion- ship. But the season did produce both good and bad memories. The first half of the season held high hopes for winning the liVC with a league record of 1-4. The final record was 4-5 overall, finishing third in the KVC, a big jump from last place a year ago. The season started with a loss to Fowler- ville. It wasn ' t a good beginning. But the next week in a great defensive battle the Eagles were victorious with a 2-0 victory over the Milford Redskins. Lakeland was next. Again the game explained the de- fensive talents for our Eagles and ended in victory for flartland. Then came the biggest win of the season, a 12-11 win over the Brighton bull- dogs. The first time in four years that we beat Brighton. The Eagles then moved on to beat non-league Woodhaven. From then on flartland didn ' t win another game, but was still proud of their accomplishments, personnel and team. flartland produced a few 1st and 2nd team all lea- guers and a slew of hon- orable mentions. Coach Barbieri was told at the seasons end by other op- posing coaches that flartland had by far the hardest hitters in the league this year.
