During the first few months the Freshman were easily recognized because of their inability to find their way around the building, as all Freshman are, but they eventual- ly overcame this and became an integral part of the high school and its activities. Under the capable leadership of their oflicers and advisors they participated in sports, forensics, band, debate, dramatics, and many other activities. They should con- tribute much to the high school in the years ahead if they continue their present social, scholastic, and extra-curricular activity. FRESHMAN OFFICERS SOPHOMORE After recovering from the frightening days of being a Freshman, the Sophomores went on this year to bring success and enjoyment to Hartford High School. The two young ladies they chose to represent them in the Homecoming activities contributed much in the way of making 1955's Homecoming Court of Honor the pretti- est one yet. In the all-school play, there were six sophomores who gave their talents for the enjoyment of many. Without their active participation in sports, our B team basketball squad could not have done as well as it did. In G. A. A. the sophomore girls almost succeeded in upsetting the Seniors. Only their lack of experience kept them from winning. Forensics was an activity in which five of their classmates went to the Freshmen and Sophomore Meet, three went to the Little Ten and two went on to the District Meet. The coveted position, editor of the Orange and Black, was captured by one of these busy Sophomores, and in Student Council, Band, Chorus, and other activities their influence and help was always appreciated.
