First of all I would like to congratulate each of you for the successful basketball season which you have recently completed. I could not attend many of the games because of the boys' games. When I was able to attend. I witnessed an awful lot of desire and dedication on the part of all of you in keeping up the tradition of being a tournament team. Lorraine and I both witnessed your playdown game with Middelbury and after a typical start of any pressure game you all responded and came together for a good team effort and won. The win put you into the quarter finals against C. V. U. which I guess I want to really most write about. Had you won this game I'm sure you most certainly could have competed well against any of the finishing teams if the scores of those games are any indication. Following this very tough loss for you at C. V.U. I noticed several of you outwardly and emotionally showing your feelings because of the outcome of the game. It was a very emotional time for all who were there. I 'm sure a lot of people wanted to go to each of you and say something to try to make you feel better. I know both Lorraine and I wanted to but I could only go to Cindy Herrick. When I saw the look in her face I could go no farther. only want to say to each of you not to let this one game be the outcome of your season. First of all you can not really think of this game as a failure. To get to the tournament is certainly far from failing. A lot of teams started this season and they were sitting home while you were still playing. Secondly, do not think of just this one game, but think of your accomplishments. What you did this year. You were the only team to beat Fall Ml., the only team to put a blemish on their record. You were the leading team from Vt. in the C. V.L. You had to play with key players injured. You finished your regular season with an outstanding record. This is what really got you to the tournament. For a long time now Hartford has constantly been involved in post season play. You did not break tradition and as you leave Hartford Basketball you can pass this tradition on to next year's team. These are the things you should think of. Every one is an accomplishment. I'm sure you all wanted Coach Trottier to go out a winner. I 'm sure he did too. Well I think he did go out a winner. He was able to convey to each of you not just the game of basketball but other thoughts and ideas which might be more valuable after you leave school. Coach Trottier has been a successful coach at Hartford High School. You all can take pride in being a part of that record. In closing, let me congratulate you again. As you have completed your last High School Basketball season you will soon complete your last year in High School. Think of your many accomplishments - for there were many. Sincerely yours. 80 ROBERT FOLLENSBEE Row I: Pam Frazer. Holly Hammond. Cindy Herrick. Cathy Cook. Joan Culver Heather Munroe. Andrea Trachier. Row 2: Mrs. Wishinski. Tina Hamilton. Paula Green.
