PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE To the Students of H, H, S, Primarily I would like to thank the student body for the trust they placed in me, and the co-operation they gave the Student Council this year. I would also like to thank the members of this year's Student Council, they have been a wonderful group with which to work. Among the purposes of the Student Council this year, a predominating aim has been the promotion of school spirit. All of our efforts have been met enthusiastically by the student body. We have also tried to promote other activities throughout the year, and your response has been most gratifying. I could wish no more for next year's Student Council President than to have a student body as co-operative as this year's has been. Gratefully yours, ci1z4m4? Frank G. The National Honor Society under the name of the Lyman Chapter is to create an enthusiasm for scholarships, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in students of Hartford High School. Each member is selected on the basis of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. The Seniors selected must have a scholarship average of 85 or above, and the Juniors must have an average of 90 or above. The membership may consist of 15 per cent of the Senior enrollment and 10 per cent of the Junior enrollment. Our club has been in operation for two years with Miss Van Deusen as sponsor. Our projects have been the distributing of report cards to honor roll students in an assembly and sponsoring a plaque to designate the homeroom with the highest percentage on the honor roll each marking period. l6'ana 75'IlI4!H.0fl'UlIrl'D'1lfhfsCFQNlHP.nU1W we R eyes! Hartford suffered one of its most disasterous seasons, being able to tie only Woodstock in the opener and then going down to seven straight defeats. Only three lettermen were available at the beginning of the season. In mid-season several key men were lost to the squad. Great credit is due the Sophomores on the squad who carried the burden from that time on. Better prospects are hoped for next season. Opening the season with a single veteran hold-over from the previous season, Hartford suffered seven suc cessive set backs in pre-league games. Hitting its stride in January this same team won nine out of its last ten games to win the Twin State League Title. No one individual can be selected as outstanding, for the success of this team was wholly attributed to team effort.
