LONG LOST FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH DISCOVERED ARGHEOLOGIST HATHORN White River ,I ct Vermont J uly 11 1990 CHNJ by Nelson J ones White River Junction was the scene of a gala celebration today as the dedication cere monies for the Fountain of Youth got under way This miracle fountain virtually sprang into being when a rock was overturned by the re nowed archeologist RAYMOND HA THORN while excavating in the ruins of the old Hartford High School building for some mummified guinea pigs Mr Hathorn a 1951 graduate of the old school made his startling report to the papers shortly after the discovery The news brought floods of people to this mall Vermont town to try this miracle water More trains buses and airplanes are en route to Vermont from all over the world as the sea of people moves to this wonder of God DEDICATION The dedication ceremonies were opened with a speech by the President of the United States HAROLD ELLIS He warned the people against drinking an excess of the water He cautioned that the drinking must be in moderation or that the Chief of Police LAWRENCE WAGONER would be given the power to restrict sales. Sales manager JOHN AGAN will keep close account of the amount of water each person drinks. The Presidents secretary BEVERLY WARD recorded what the President said and was available for additional information to be released to the press. ENTERTAINMENT Shortly after the President s speech the Rise and Shine Band led by the famous band- leader PATSY BALDASARO executed the first movement of the Hartfordian Sym phony a new masterpiece by the composer REGINALD HOSKINS The famous star of screen and stage MAR GARET AUSTIN then enacted an excerpt fr m Our Hearts Were Young And Cay as sited by WALTER HULBURT president of the International Harvester Company Next on the program was NANCY NOTT of the London Symphony Orchestra who played a flute solo accompanied by violinist CLAIRE HAZEN of the New York Sym phony Orchestra They played an appro tam Hortense PAULINE WITHINGTON and ETHEL LUCE and their cowboy band played several square dances which gave the crowd a chance to stretch their legs NELSON MCKENNY world explorer gave a spine chilling account of his adven tures in the wilds of Africa He has recently flown here from Bongo Bongo to obtain one of the mummified guinea pigs UNVEI LING OF STATUE The climax of the ceremonies came when the statue was unveiled while DAVID GRISWOLD of the Metropolitan Opera sang the aria The Guinea Pig Oratorio com- posed by himself for the occasion. The statue was created by the sculptor-painter LOUISE PHELPS and is a breath-taking re- lief of two majestically posed guinea pigs MARK WOOD was resting easily in a chair chatting with an old friend. He was at the celebration because he had drawn up the blueprints for the monument and wanted to be sure that his instructions had been carried out correctly. '1 1 1 ' 71 ' !
