Weeks tiles an .irhlt-ue retord. One, two, three, stretch directed Miss Marcia Shepherd as she conducted daily exercises in her physical education classes. A graduate of Hanover College, Miss Shepherd has her B.A. degree. This past year she served as sponsor for the G.A.A., Pep Club and the cheerleaders and also taught health. Good sportsmanship and team play were two of the main objectives of Mr. Claude XVeeks' boys physical education classes as well as his basketball team. His duties also included co-sponsoring the H-Club. Ball State Teacher's College is his alma mater from which he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees. Drawing school Wide interest with their newly organized girls' basketball team this year was the Girls Athletic Association, sponsored by Miss Marcia Shepherd. The team traveled out of town to play a Mississinewa girls squad. Other ac- tivities throughout the year included swimming and bowling meets and attend- ing sports clinics held at various schools. Xlr. Spr-yr tlenionxtrates the metal shop's blow torch to wood shop instructor, john Carbone. Vocational Courses Prepare Craftsmen, Homemalcers No, no, not that way-our goal is at THIS end of the field! Football coach John Carbone also co-sponsored the H Club, worked with the track and junior high basketball teams and in- structed wood shop. Mr. Carbone received his B.S. degree at Ball State Teachers College and M.S. at Indiana University. Hey, Mr. Speer, I just drew the plans for a building taller than the Empire State Building! Big ideas like this were formu- lated in Mr. David Speer's mechanical drawing and metal shop classes. Mr. Speer graduated from Ball State Teacher's College and has attained his B.S. degree in education. s. W'eig.1nd tidies the cupboards in the yellow unit Organizing Fun Night and holding court for delinquent monitor signers were only two of Mrs. Margaret Weigand's jobs as Student Council sponsor. She also instructed girls in different phases of home economics. Mrs. WCigL1Hd attended Oakland City College and Ball State Teacher's College, attaining her B.A. de- gree at Ball State. M

Miss Greene and Mr. Dorton pause for a chat while en route to the high school from the North W'.ird. All Learn Health, Safety, Future Nurses Specialize Demonstrating to pupils how to turn out of n Skid is only one of the jobs of Mr. Kenneth Dorton as driver education instructor. Health and physical education also fall under his teaching duties. Mr. Dorton received B.A. and M.A. degrees from Indiana State and Ball State Teacher's Colleges, respectively. Organizing the new Future Nurses of America Club was a new activity this year of Miss Mary Greene, health and general science instructor. Miss Greene studied at Indiana University and Ball State Teacher's College and has acquired her B. A. and M.A. degrees. Because of growing interest in the many fields of nursing, a branch of the Future Nurses of America organization was started in HCI-IS this year. Sponsored by Miss Mary Greene, the club consisted of an allotted number of upperclass girls interested in nursing as a career. Student nurses, public health nurses and hospital nurses were among the speakers heard by the club. Officers for the past year were Jennie Beeson, presi- dent, Becky Dearfield, vice-president, Nancy Schorey, secretaryg Becky Combs, treasurer and Therese Guig- nard, program chairman.
