Pupils Are Trained In Techniques Gi Business, Art As a member of the business department, Mr. Thomas Hale had as his duties the instruction of bookkeeping, general busi- ness, and business arithmetic. Mr. Hale was also a sponsor of the Hi-Y and senior Class, and conducted night classes in typing and bookkeeping. He attended Indiana State Teacher's College and has received his B.S. and M.S. degrees. Mrs. Marion Williamson instructed prospective secretaries in advanced shorthand and ofhce practice besides her many duties as assistant principal. She attended Gregg School, the University of Wisconsin and Ball State Teacher's College, and has her B.S. and M.A. degrees. Supplying her beginning typists with emery boards was a well known activity of Miss Charlotte Miller. She also instructed beginning shorthand and served as a sophomore class sponsor. Miss Miller has achieved her B.S. and M.S. degrees after attend- ing Ball State Teacheris College and San Jose State College in California. Under the guidance of Miss Martha Willman, art instructor, students who were preparing for commercial art careers or just liked to draw learned the fundamentals of line, color, design. Miss Willman, freshman class co-sponsor, was also in charge of the poster contests. It can become rather tedious-making those exact to the 'n'th degree draw- ings of mechanical fittings over and over again. But without this practice and training the student can never become the architect or mechanical engineer he aspires' to be. ln nearly every field very little can be accomplished without add- ing training and practice to the other aspects of study :md learning.
