Band Earns Acclaim In Marching, Pop Serious Music iii: c-,, . ll Guiding the junior and senior band members in the finer things of music was Mr. XY'illi.1m Fread. From thc tiniest song-flute to the biggest bass, all tooted in time to the maestro's baton. Mr. Fread studied at Indiana State Teacher's Col- lege, and has his BS. and M.S. degrees. Bedecked in shining uniforms of black and gold, the HCHS marching band traveled to the Bluffton street fair early in the fall and brought home an ex- cellent rating for their performance. Weeks of rigid training and 'eight-by- five' marching won the instrumentalists a superior rating for their maneuvers and show, XY'hat's My Line? at the district marching contest in Fort Wayne. Ifntertainin football and basketball fans with halftime shows and son s, the 3 g band members, sticking to the belief that rain or snow, the band must go, also marched in local parades.
