'lihe ll young orators addressed class- mates with dedications, and elimaxed the course bv giving 49-minute speeches on any subject, following the methods learned throughout the semester. Panel discussions on teenage problems, as well as weekly themes, and several book reports, kept the underclass linglish classes busy while seniors waded through the school's college prep course via work- books. Latin students took in the Chicago sights on their trip to the windy cityn and corresponded with foreign pen pals to liven the routine of trans- lating the ancient language. French students stud- ied the origin of their romantic language and the history of the 37 lirench provinces through the use of their recently purchased S-ft. by -l-ft. map. Seventeen juniors and seniors became guinea pigs for the new diversihed occupation plan. All D. O. students received a grade from their em- ployer and one from their instructor, with whom they spent a Fifth hour activity period. Using the services of new electric and gas ranges, plus two new refrigerators, the homemakers of tomorrow transferred recipes on paper into tasty dishes of goodies.
