Not only did D. O. prove advantageous because weekly pay checks took care of many school life expenses, but also these workers were able to practice what they learned in school. Although handicapped by a deficiency in experi- enced Linotype operators, the print shop boys still produced tickets and programs for various school events, tourney ticket cards, guidance conference booklets, and numerous other printed matter needed by the high school, as Well as putting out nine issues of The lnkspot. Working on opposite sides of the gymnasium were TOP: Nancy Lord adds finishing touches to art class project as Jeannine McClintic and Miss Carolyn Fyfe, Ball State student teacher, Watch. BOTTOM: Girls' physical education class pre- pares to do somersaults during tumbling exercises. the wood and metal shops. Here students prepared to pursue future vocations or perhaps just to be handy around the house. Wood shop boys made furni- ture for Mom while they were learning about their product. Metal shoppers made tools such as hammers and screw drivers with the help of a newly purchased lathe. Also looking to the future were the home eco- nomics girls as they prepared themselves to be home- makers of tomorrow by learning to cook and to prepare meals for one another and friends at noon. In addition these gals learned to sew and to make their own clothes. Physical education classes built those greatly desired masculine muscles and trim feminine figures, as they also taught co-ordination, sportsmanship, and skill. TOP: Taking her turn working for the administration, office practice student Priscilla Martin sorts and files teachers' mail in correct boxes. BOTTOM: First year typing students concentrate as they work on difficult business problem.

Diversified Occupations student Katie Willitims gets dry cleaning ready for customer at the local Gem Cleaner.
