The representatives voice the needs and desires of the students. Council representatives are selected from the seventh through twelfth grades by popular vote, with the president coming from the senior class. These students are the backbone of our school. They rank high in both Academic work and popularity. They are the most honest, sincere, and well mannered of all the students. May the Student Council forever serve our school with pride. Looking into the garage section I see CHARLES HARDINC working as a mechanic and doing minor repairs. While staring further into the Crystal Ball, I see a large Diner and Motel combination under the management of WILLIAM SAUNDERS. Who do you suppose he has working for him? The famous chief cook and bottle-washer PHIL HARRIS. There I also see CHARMAINE LEWIS, better known as Candy Lewis, a famous New York modelg nurse BERTHA PARTINGTON, and PHYLLIS KINNEY, who by the way, is now operating her own Skating Rink in New Jersey. They are having a gala sessionv over some French fries and coke and are discussing their years in high school. During the course of the conversation, it was revealed that the former GRACE MAUSTELLER is now Mrs. Arthur Welch, and LOR- RAINE .IABLONSKI is holding a position as Chemical Engineer for the Dupont Corporation. Changing scenes to a small Cafe owned by ROBERT PAVLICK and DONALD SHUMOSIC, I see FRANK FINNECAN with his band called the RED NICKELSH and his THREE SILVER PENNIES7 Featured is JACK REESE as the guitar player. JOSEPH SUBARTON operates the sound effects, and BILL WARMAN is the yodler. They are bringing the house down with one of their famous routines. As I watch I see walking in the door STANLEY LEVANDOSKI and JOHN MAYLOCK. They have a partnership in the amusement business, and are redistributing pin ball machines, juke boxes, et cetera. The Crystal Ball now takes me over the mountains where I see ROBERTA SEMCHESKI residing in Chester, Pennsylvania. She works there as a secretary for a large corporation. My Crystal Ball also tells me that BETTY SINCAVAGE and RICHARD CARVER are coaching their own basketball teams. Thus far their teams have been suc cess ful. You also have a famous armchair athlete, MARION SHERLOCK, who has written a book on baseball entitled 'gHints on Baseball. It now takes me to a dance where I see familiar faces whirling. Among the couples I see MARILYN ELEY and her spouse doing the Mambo. Surprise! MARIANNE JOHNSON has a position in the band playing the drums. W e'll never forget the day When we started on our way, Down education,s well worn path To a lot of studies like-history and math. Trips to the office, fountain, and halls, Classmates and teachers our memory recalls. School bells, late slips combined into one, These days are gone forever- days filled with funf' The final curtain is about to fall. The time has come to leave you all. We look forward to what the future contains, But here forever our heart remains. Bertha Partington and Lorraine ,Iablonski SENIOR CLASS SONG fTune- Melody of Lovevj Now the hour has come, H arter High When to friends and teachers we must say good-bye. As we leave this high school and grow old, Merrfries will return us to Harter's Blue and Gold. While we,re looking back, we'll recall Times we spent in classroom and in study hall. Teachers' understanding and parents, love, Aided us along with Cod's help from above. Now we are prepared to go into the world, And to face the problems that will be unfurled. So again, dear H arter, we say good-bye. Now we must leave you, Harter High. Dolores Brozena K QR N5 ,KAW 7l9?3! in jfffff W iff' WFXZAQ' J em C7 fffffwfjj U Q S 1 DOLORFS HROZENA ,HMI.L. Q 3 UAW iw CLASS HISTORY We, the graduating class of 1955, entered the doors of Harter High School in the year 1949, under the supervision of Miss Logue and Mrs. Anthony fformerly Miss Stadtsj. Throughout this year the class was busy getting familiar with the school, the teachers, and the surroundings. Sports N itef, conducted by Miss Virtue, gave us our first opportunity to participate in a school function. The boys engaged in a basketball game while the girls entertained with the 'Virginia Reelf' In 1950 we entered eighth grade, feeling more confident as we were now accustomed to the rules of the school and had mastered the rotating schedule? Lorraine Jablonski and Bose Marie Hassaj entered the National Poetry Contest. Lorrainels poem upumpkinsv and Rose Marie's poem October were selected by the judges to appear in the 1950 edition of the National High School Poetry Association. Ninth grade was our final year in Junior High School. The Girls, Basket- ball Coach selected Betty Sincavage, Roberta Semcheski, Lorraine Jablon- ski, and Bertha Partington as members of the squad. Charmaine Lewis was elected to the position of cheerleader by the student body. The Freshman girls were admitted to the Clee Club and Future Homemakers of America. The school year ended with a picnic at San Souci Park under the supervision of Mr. and Mrs. Davis. In 1952 we began our Senior High School days. Richard Carver, Donald Shumosic, and William Warman were selected to play on the Senior Varsity Basketball Team, Bertha Partington was elected cheerleader. Our class had the pleasure of having Lorraine Jablonski elected State President of the Future Homemakers of America. This opened the way to many new exper- iences for her. This year we said goodbye to Mr. Lammers, our music teacher, and welcomed Dr. Gerald Ostroskie as the new music professor. The 'GAP section of our class presented a skit honoring Washingtonis Birthday. As Juniors, under the direction of Mrs. Dobson, we were busy raising money for the big event of the year - the Junior-Senior Prom. Our projects for this purpose included a skating party on November 4, 1953 and the sale of Christmas candy and Harter High sweaters. On May 13, 1954 our Junior- Senior Prom was held. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the May Queen, Mary Bistrichan, by the President of the Junior Class. The class officers were Richard Carver, President, Stanley Levendoski, Vice President, Charmaine Lewis, Secretary, and Donald Shumosic, Treasurer. Betty Sincavage was chosen as a member of the cheerleading squad. A new student council was organized this year. From the Junior Class Dolores Brozena, John Maylock, and Stanley Levendoski were chosen to represent their class. We ended the year with the school picnic which was held at San Souci Park. The beginning of this year brings us to our Senior year. Our advisors are Mrs. Symons and Mr. Davis. The class officers are President, Dolores Brozenag Vice President, John Maylockg Secretary, Rose Marie Hassaj, and Treasurer, Donald Shumosic. The field trips that we have taken include Woodwa1'd Collery, the Court House, and Retreat. The projects we under- took were the sale of Christmas Cards, the Yearbook, and weekly dances. Un November 10, 1954 a Harvest Dance was held by the Seniors. Dolores Brozena was crowned Harvest Queen by Donald Shumosic. Her attendants were Bertha Partington, Phyllis Kinney, Grace Mausteller, and Roberta Semcheski. Due to the grade school fire, the dance ended shortly after the crowning of the Queen. Charmaine Lewis was elected Miss Senior Harter High School, 1955. Her attendants were Lorraine Jablonski, Rose Marie Hassaj, Bertha- Partington, and Roberta Semcheski. She was honored at the Variety Show in April. Rose Marie Hassaj was elected May Queen. She was crowned at the Junior-Senior Prom on May 12, 1955. She was also presented with a gift from the Junior Class in memory of the Prom. Class night was held on June 3, 1955 and Graduation was held on the evening of June 9, 1955. Our trip, a cruise up the Hudson River on a steamboat, was held on Wednesday, June 15, 1955.
