At first we were a little fearful, but our fears were soon subsided under the guiding hands of Miss Logue and Miss Volroth. Sports Night was one of the highlights of our eighth grade year. The first student council was organized this year under the supervision of Mr. Hoynowski. We were allowed to elect representatives to attend these meetings. In ninth grade some of our classmates were chosen to take part in the Christ- mas Program. Mary Kalena was elected cheerleader from the Junior High and Bernard Partington and Daniel Stosek were picked for the baseball team. The big event of our Sophomore year was the Snowball Dance. Barbara Pash- inski and Beverly Ann Jones were elected attendants to the Snowball Queen. We were becoming more prominent as John Jola and Bernard Partington made the varsity basketball team. The year was climaxed by our picnic at Lake Silkworth. Our Junior year was highlighted by the annual Junior-Senior Prom. With Mrs. Dobson as our Advisor, we all worked diligently to raise money to make this a huge success. A banquet was given by the Back-Mountain Lions Club honoring the basketball team for receiving the championship for the Back Mountain League. Well, here we are now our last year at Harter High. We lost many friends along the way until our Senior Class now numbers forty. Mr. Davis and Miss Virtue were chosen as Qur Advisors. Barbara Van Horn was elected President of the class, Marilyn Jones, Vice President, Barbara Pashinski, Secretary, and Edward Mikulski as Treasurer. To raise money for our yearbook, Memories, we undertook many projects. Al Christmas we sold cards, and during the noon hours our candy and soda stands were a familiar sight. Nearly every Wednesday night couples could be seen dancing to the strains of the music from our iuke box. Our first big social event of the year was the Halloween Dance. Barbara Pashinski was elected Harvest Queen for the Thanksgiving Dance. ln February we presented our class play which was a comedy called Shoot the Works. Glory unexcelled was brought to Harter High this year by its basket- ball team. The varsity was composed almost entirely of Seniors with Whitey Stewart as Captain. The team received the championship for the Back-Mountain League for the second year in a row. They also went further this year to obtain the crown for Districts 2, 4, and 12. This is truly a year which will go down in the history of basketball at Harter High. The annual sports banquet was given again this year by the Back-Mountain Lions Club. The team and cheerleaders were given awards for making possible our great success in basketball. Marilyn Jones was elected May Queen by the student body. She was crowned by Duane Hunter, President of the Junior class, at the annual Junior-Senior Prom. Class night was held on May 29th. For our class trip we went for a cruise up the Hudson River. Commencement exercises were held on June 4th. QNBNU C .. ..- QVVNQVVNQ pg :, Wx , cuxss PROPHECY It is January, 1963, the opening night of the fabulous Ice-Follies in Madison Square Garden. A night I am sure the spectators will never forget, for its beauty and color have never been surpassed. The main attraction of the evening is Micky, Queen of the Ice. We all know her as MARILYN JONES. It seems as though fate has kept a few of the old gang together, for over there I see DONALD JONES going through the aisles selling peanuts, pop-corn, and cracker lacks. ln the crowd l also noticed the up-coming star of television, JOHN JOLA. Now let us take a sight seeing tour of the city! How shall we go? I know, let's take a sight-seeing bus! As I stepped into the bus, I noticed the faces of the driver and guide were familiar. Why, of course, it's HARVEY STEWART and ALLYN KLINETOB, former members of the old gang. Shortly after starting our tour, Allyn bgan to point out the many famous buildings. On the right, you'Il find the Shaker Shoe Company which had lust had its Grand Opening. Famous for its Midget shoe clerk, JOHN MATTHEWS, it is owned and operated by JOHN PARTINGTON. The tall building directly to the left is the REDMOND-VAN HORN Music Center. The bookkeeper for this firm is VIRGINIA MARR. I wonder if she still has trouble keeping her date book straight. The restaurant on the right, continued Allyn, is the Chez Paree. The head waitres.s is MARGUERITE YOUELLS. Allyn announced that ANDRIS BONEY and EDWARD MIKULSKI have' lust opened a small night club called the Derby CIub. It seems they made their fortune on the horses. Again to the right is the newly erected United Nations Building. Little did I know that DOROTHY DYMOND is a secretary there and has her own private office. On the Bulletin Board in front of the building I noticed a poster announcing that Admiral RALPH HUNLOCK and his private secretary CONNIE LAMOREAU would be in the building tomorrow. Admiral Hunlock will give a speech on How to Stay Afloat while Miss Lamoreau will be taking notes. We are now in front of the Romanick Hotel owned and operated by ANDREW ROMANICK. Shall we go in and see the sights? Over there Is the business office. Well look who the telephone operator is, none other than BERNADINE TRO- JANOWSKI. Now let us go to the second floor of the hotel where the large audi- torium is located. While in the elevator, who do you suppose We met but ANN ZAGORSKI. She is now hostess at a Hotel in Florida. Well, here we are in the auditorium, where, in iust a few minutes, we will see the Fashion Show. The master of ceremonies being none other than New York's famous Disc-Jockey, ETHEL WOLEVER. The clothes for the evening were de,- signed by the famous designer from Paris, MARY ANN JONES. Having lived in Danville all her married life, Barbara told me that a new staff has just been elected for the Geisinger Memorial Hospital. To receive new positions are BEVERLY ANN JONES, medical technician, THESESA PAVLICK, head nurse, RICHARD WYDOSKI, head male nurse, BARBARA PASH- INSKI, directress of nurses. Head doctor is JAMES FINNEGAN, who is still a very good friend of the mortician, JAMES DELANEY. Their slogan is, if he can't patch you up, I can put you under. Barbara also brought back memories of EDDIE HOOVER and CYRIL BEVAN. It seems that Cyril is in California designing furniture for the Bevan Furniture Company, while Eddie is in Ontario, Canada, running a very modern Pizza Bar. Upon returning home I happened to pick up the latest edition of Time Maga- zine. As I glanced at the cover, there is a picture of LENORA TURLEY JACKSON. She has just been appointed Ambassador to Germany to fulfill the unexpired term of her late husband, Andrew Jackson, III. Continuing further into the book I noticed that BERNIE PARTINGTON and JOE PRZYWARA have lust left California to represent the United States in the basketball play-offs for the championship of the world. Also on that page is a write up about pitcher DANIEL STOSEK who for splendid ability has iust been entered into BasebalI's Hall of Fame. Now as our busy day draws to a close, we the Seniors of 1953, will enter again into dreamland to recall once more many unforgetable happenings of our long past school days.
