58,35 Q 3 Q RRIVING as eighth-grade students from Johnson Green, Grand Tunnel, and West Nanticoke, we came to Harter High School in 1947. We were assigned to Mrs. Symon's and Mr. Davis's homerooms and were the first students start- ing in the Junior High School. We devoted this year to making new acquaintances and adjusting ourselves to our school and our teachers. In our ninth year, we began to be recognized--Philip Condu, William Jones, Stan- ley Pincofski, and Robert Evarts donned basketball suits. Freddy Allabaugh won the foul-shooting medal, Sports night. Bernadine Mrugal, Janet Roberts, Agnes Kosteva, Beverly Stubblebine, and Willia.m J ones served as student-council rep- resentatives. Betty Devens, Vincent Drapiewski, and John Purvin became fam- iliar figures as members of our school orchestra. Miss Britian, one of our home- room teachers, left us this year and We held a farewell party in her honor. As cheerful Sophomores, we were assigned to Miss Virtue's and Mrs. Davis's homerooms. We thought we knew our school and all faces, but two new students joined our ranks--Joetta Williams and Helen Williams, while others departed. Agnes Kosteva captured an honor for our class by winning the Business Arithme- tic medal tying first place in the Business Educational contest held at Blooms- burg. This same year, Freddy Allabaugh again won the foul-shooting medal and our class, the Intramural basketball contest. Frances Panisiewicz was crowned Queen of Sports, Sports night. Swiftly we recall our Junior year. Under the guidance of Mr. Delaney and Mrs. Dobson, we sponsored movies and dances. Beverly Stubblebine was maid of honor for the Snowball Queen. The memorable Junior-Senior Prom was held in May with the Seniors as our guests. Now we have just completed our Senior year, and looking back through that year, we recall some of the important happenings and accomplishments which we secured. In September we organized our classes with Mr. Harwood and Mrs. Brislin as our advisors. Election for class officers was held, and Edward Waxman was elected President, Freas Kinney, Vice-President, Agnes Kosteva, Secretary, and Frances Panisiewicz, Treasurer. The first important event to take place was the Halloween Dance, which was held in the latter part of October, followed by the Harvest Dance and the Snowball Dance. Then came the class play and class night. Here We dis- played our dramatic abilities and talents. With just a few days remaining and Com- mencement drawing near, we gave much thought towards the hopes and dreams of the future and the goal which we have attained. Finally on the night of June 6, we bade farewell to our classmates and teachers and joined the Seniors of past years in becoming the Alumni of Harter High School. 15
