Girl's Varsity Basketball Achieves Besr Record In Five Years The varsiry girls basketball ream starred our on a bad note by losing rheir first game, 42-45, bur bounced back strong winning rhree gomes in a row. The girls ended rheir season with a record of 158 overall and 10 4 in rhe league. Selected by coach Wilson for rhe most valuable players were: Mindy Clark and Tami Zwade and rhe ream caprains were also Mindy Clark and Tami Zwade. Coach Wilson said, The ream was very dose rhis year and showed no jealousy. They were a very balanced ream. This was a special year for seniors Mindy Clark and Tami Zwode They borh earned all-conferenced honors. This was Tami Zwade's second year in a row for achieving rhor honor She also ser rhe single game scoring record wirh 38 points or Monrague. When asked, how rhe year wear, Tonic Sloan said, Prerry good excepr for rhe rournomenr games.” However, They were rhe firsr ream ro reach rhe finals of rhe disrricr rournomenr in five years, and maintained rhe besr record for rhe girls ream in five years. Inspire Of A Difficult Season J.V.'s Show Porenrial lr was o rough year for rhe younger pirare ream. The girls hod o rough rime on rhe courr, ending rhe season wirh o 3-15 record. Alrhough rhey had difficulries, rhey displayed o lor of porenrial. When some of rhe players were asked how rhey felr obour rhe season rhey generally agreed rhor rhey proc-riced well, and had good reomwork, bur hod problems handling rhe pressures of a game. Much of rhis was due ro rheir inexperience, and rhere should be real improvemenr nexr season. As freshman Mary Dlohm pur ir, lr was a hard season since rhe ream was mode up mainly of freshmen, bur I feel we worked reol well rogerh-er.
