Teed Off This years Golf team turned out to be real hard workers with a great attitude for learning more about the sport, said Coach Phil Kenyon when asked about this years team. Several golfers received varsity letters: Jim Reed — 3rd. letter, Matt Stovall — 1st., Paul Weirich — 1st., Tom Miller — 1st., and K.C. Fowler — 1st. Matt Stovall was named most valuable player, and Paul Weirich was picked as most improved. Mr. Kenyon has been playing golf since high school. His background includes: four years in high school and in his college fraternity, two years on the ship’s team while in the Navy, plus 13 years of high school coaching. Bottom Left: Barb Olson. Keep Dribbling The new coach, Karen Drenth, lead the Junior Varsity girls basketball team. Tonia Sloan and Mandy Hackett were selected by the team as co-captains. When asked what coach Karen Drenth thought was the most memorable game of the season she replied, The game against Shelby. The girls were down by 11 points at the half, but came back strong the second half. Their determination paid off as they led Shelby at the end of the 4th quarter, then in over time the girls hung on and won the game against their rivals 42-39 .
